Yoga block Pilates
Yoga Blocks are rectangular blocks, usually made out of foam. They are very light, yet sturdy enough to bear your weight without bending or changing shape. Yoga Blocks are often used in Pilates classes in order to make your position more comfortable and to enable you to perform exercises with correct form and alignment.
The blocks can enhance your practice by supporting and aligning the body. You can sit on one to raise your hips for a straighter spine, or use 2 blocks (one under each hand) to allow you to weight bear on the arms without strain on the wrists. We can also stand on the blocks to increase stretches and improve control and balance. If you don't have a Yoga block you can use a hard fusion or a telephone book as possible replacements. Yoga Blocks used in Pilates classes are about 30cm x 20cm x 5cm in size.
